Presbyterian Church of Traverse City To Host Earth Day Open House

April 17, 2025

To celebrate Earth Day, the Presbyterian Church of Traverse City is inviting area churches and the public to see what they've been doing to save energy and reduce carbon emissions.

Two years ago, they set a target to make at least a 25% reduction, and with help from Traverse City Light & Power and Keen Technical Solutions, they're making substantial progress. They replaced a 1950's boiler with an all-electric heat pump, installed LED lighting and put solar panels on the roof, among other improvements.

Traverse City Light & Power, Cherryland Electric, Consumers Power, and Groundwork will all be at the event to discuss these improvments and answer questions.

Date/time: Wednesday April 23, 6:30-8:00pm. Location: The Presbyterian Church of Traverse City, 701 Westminster Drive.

6:30   Welcome! Our story--what we did: successes, challenges, funding

6:45   Q & A with Contractors & Project Leads

7:15   Tours & opportunities to meet with local resource organizations-ask questions; explore what you might do in your home, business, or church!
