Registration Open For Smart Commute Week

By Beth Milligan | May 18, 2018

TART Trails and its community partners are now accepting registration for the 24th Annual Smart Commute Week, scheduled for June 4-8.

The week includes a Smart Commute Week Challenge, as well as free breakfasts and other events that promote cycling, walking, taking BATA, and carpooling. While participants aren’t required to register a team, prizes and trophies are available in categories including Individual, Small, Medium, and Large teams. The Challenge is open to the public, and there are no age or team size restrictions. Any individual who might normally drive a single-passenger vehicle to and from their destination but instead uses an alternative form of transportation is qualified to participate.

Teams are asked to self-select a team captain who is responsible for logging daily scores online. Team captains are invited to lunch on Wednesday, May 30 from 12pm-1pm at the Traverse Area District Library to receive all challenge materials. Free lunch will be provided.

Prizes and trophies will be given at the awards ceremony breakfast on Friday, June 8 at Oryana from 7am-9am. Custom-made sculptures by local artist TJ Carroll will be awarded to the teams with the most points accumulated throughout the week. Register for Smart Commute Week and view breakfast locations and a schedule of events online here, or call TART Trails at 231-941-4300.
