Rotary Hosts Polio Documentary

Rotary Clubs in Traverse CIty are hosting a special screening of "The Shot Felt 'Round the World'" at the State Theatre this Thurs., Oct 23, to mark World Polio Day on October 24. The documentary uses interviews with world-renowned experts to tell the story of Dr. Jonas Salk and his research team and their efforts to conquer the most feared disease of the 20th century.

The film will be shown at 6pm and attendees will have an opportunity to hear from a local polio survivor and participate in a Q & A at the conclusion of the film. Admission is free; donations welcomed.

Rotary made polio eradication its top priority in 1985 and since that time has contributed $1.3 billion and countless volunteer hours to help immunize more than two billion children in 122 countries.
