A suspected drunk driver crashed into Oryana Natural Foods Market on Tenth Street just before 3am Saturday morning. A Traverse City Police Department officer responded to the scene and identified the driver as a 29-year-old Traverse City woman. A passenger in her car, a 24-year-old Traverse City woman, had minor injuries and was taken to Munson Medical Center. The driver was arrested for suspected drunk driving and taken to Grand Traverse County Jail. Oryana posted on Facebook that the crash did cause "a bit of damage" to the store's Tenth Street side near the wellness department, but that the store was still open and operating.

The accident was one of several arrests and incidents that occurred overnight on the St. Patrick's Day holiday. At 12:30am Saturday, a TCPD officer observed a 2004 Acura heading westbound in the 800 block of East Front Street in the worng lane, almost causing an accident with two other vehicles. The driver, a 25-year-old Traverse City man, was arrested for suspected drunk driving and placed in Grand Traverse County Jail.

At 1:50am Saturday, a TCPD officer was dispatched to the 500 block of West Front Street to investigate a public drunkenness report. While investigating the complaint, another intoxicated male - a 22-year-old Traverse City man - stepped between the officer and the original suspect. He then ran away from the officer, running out into the middle of West Front Street in front of a taxi cab. The cab had to swerve to avoid hitting the man. The man was arrested for drunk and disorderly conduct and taken to Grand Traverse County Jail.

At 2:30am Saturday, a TCPD officer responded to 460 Munson Ave on a report of a possible domestic violence situation. Upon investigating, the officer determined a 25-year-old Boyne Falls woman had assaulted her boyfriend. She was arrested for domestic assault and taken to Grand Traverse County Jail.

The Grand Traverse Sheriff's Office also reported making seven arrests its afternoon shift for St. Patrick's Day and 18 traffic stops - including two arrests - during a night shift as part of the Sheriff's Office Interdiction Team. However, both the TCPD and Sheriff's Office noted that while the holiday was busy - with large amounts of people out celebrating in the city - the day went relatively smoothly overall. TCPD Sergeant Matt Richmond called the holiday "pleasantly peaceful," while the Sheriff's Office Interdiction Team remarked postively on the fact that several cars they puiled over had intoxicated passengers, but sober designated drivers.
