TC Man Arrested for Peninsula Township Home Invasion

By Beth Milligan | Dec. 17, 2024

A Traverse City man was arrested and arraigned this week on two charges relating to an alleged home invasion this fall in Peninsula Township.

Troopers from the Michigan State Police (MSP) Traverse City Post were dispatched to a Peninsula Township home just after 7pm on October 4 to investigate a residential alarm. The owners were not home at the time the alarm went off. Upon arrival, troopers found evidence of a forced entry, with the master bedroom ransacked. Surveillance video from a neighboring house was provided to investigators, which showed a male in dark clothing walking towards the victims’ home just before the alarm went off and running away a short time later.

As a result of a joint investigation between the MSP and Grand Traverse County Sheriff’s Office, and with the help of newly deployed Flock Safety traffic cameras, the suspect was identified as 23-year-old Jordan Jesus Moises Schocko of Traverse City. Further investigation revealed Moises Schocko attempted to pawn stolen jewelry at a local pawn shop, where he was captured on surveillance video.

A report was turned over to the Grand Traverse County Prosecutor’s Office for review. A two-count felony warrant was authorized Monday. Moises Schocko was located and arrested at his home later that same day, where he was taken into custody without incident and lodged in the Grand Traverse County Jail. Moises Schocko was arraigned Tuesday in 86th District Court on one count of felony home invasion and one count of receiving and concealing stolen property. The investigation remains ongoing.
