Thirty-six-year-old Brian Hartley Jr. of Traverse City faces multiple charges following a Michigan State Police (MSP) investigation involving the department's Computer Crimes Unit - Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) Task Force.

Hartley was arrested after a tip was received from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children. During an examination of seized devices, child sexually abusive material was discovered on Hartley’s cell phone. Hartley was charged with three counts of aggravated possession of child sexually abusive material, one count of using a computer to commit a crime, and one count of lying to a peace officer. Hartley was arraigned in 86th District Court on May 8, the MSP announced Monday.

The MSP ICAC Task Force was assisted in the investigation by the MSP Traverse City Post.
