TCLP Awards $55K in Grants to Local Orgs

Traverse City Light and Power (TCLP) awarded two local organizations a combined $55,000 in funding from the TCLP Community Investment Fund Program. Funding was approved at the TCLP September 23 board meeting for the following:

> Northwest Michigan College Foundation: Received partial funding in the amount of $5,000 for the purchase of LED lighting to replace 30+ year old gallery lighting fixtures in the Dennos Museum. 

> Women’s Resource Center: Funding in the amount of $50,000 toward the renovation of the WRC transitional home into nine separate energy-efficient apartments.

The Community Investment Fund assists nonprofit organizations in three focus areas: Clean Energy Related Programs and Projects, Innovative Clean Energy Technology, and Natural Resources/Environmental Programs. Grant applications are accepted two times per year, from the period of May 1-July 31 and November 1-January 31.
