Thefts Keep TCPD Busy

Nov. 26, 2015

The Traverse City Police Department is pursuing charges against suspects in two different thefts Sunday.

In the first, a 27-year-old Traverse City woman took $400 from the Speedway where she worked at the corner of Front and Division. The woman left an apology note at the gas station for taking the money. Police officers were able to track down and interview the woman this week. While she was not arrested, the TCPD is requesting a charge of embezzlement from the Grand Traverse County Prosecuting Attorney's Office.

The TCPD is also seeking a larceny charge against a 21-year-old Traverse City man who reportedly stole money out of a car at a car wash Sunday. A 71-year-old Northport man reported dropping his car off at the car wash with a large sum of cash inside. When he picked the car up, the cash was gone. Police interviewed employees at the business until they were able to identify the suspect.
