Tractor Supply Breaks Ground in Acme

Aug. 30, 2014

Tractor Supply, the largest operator of rural lifestyle retail outlets in the nation, has broken ground for a new store on the corner of Arnold Road and M-72 in Acme Township.

The company operates more than 1,300 stores across the country, including one on US-31 near Chum’s Corner. Founded in 1938 as a mail order catalog business to provide gear for farmers, Tractor Supply now reports revenues of approximately $5.2 billion annually.

Tractor Supply stores are primarily located in rural areas and the outlying suburbs of major cities. A typical store has 15,000 to 24,000 square feet of interior selling space and a similar outside area to display fencing, livestock equipment and horse stalls. The stores feature animal care products, welders, power tools, lawnmowers, garden products and per supplies.

The store is one of many expected to join the new Acme Meijer store as new retail development begins to grow in Acme and Williamsburg.
