Two Dead, Two Seriously Injured in Hammond Road Crash

Two individuals are dead and another two seriously injured following an accident near the intersection of Hammond Road and Chartwell Drive Wednesday.

According to the Grand Traverse Sheriff's Office, deputies and first responders from Metro Fire arrived at the scene of the crash at approximately 5:10pm in East Bay Township. Information gathered at the scene indicated an eastbound blue SUV crossed the center line and struck a westbound black pickup truck.

The two 75-year-old occupants of the blue SUV were pronounced dead at the scene of the accident. The occupants of the black pickup truck, a 51-year-old man and 20-year-old man, were transported to Munson Medical Center with serious injuries.

At the time of its update Wednesday evening, the Sheriff's Office was still on the scene investigating the accident. The names of the victims had not yet been released pending notification of next of kin.
