Who Is Coming North? The Peaks And Valleys Of Winter Tourism

By Beth Milligan | Jan. 16, 2023

Coming off a couple of unusual winter travel seasons, many travelers and businesses across northern Michigan are hoping for a return to normalcy during the months before spring break. While our region isn’t as hot a destination in the winter as in summer—we mean that literally and figuratively—winter traffic in and out of northern Michigan plays an important role in keeping the local economy afloat during the leaner off-season.

In this week's Northern Express, sister publication of The Ticker, travel and tourism experts provide insights on the winter tourism landscape, including the current situation across the region and predictions on what to expect this winter for folks coming North. The Northern Express is available to read online, or pick up a free copy on newsstands at nearly 700 spots in 14 counties across northern Michigan.
