Woman Arrested After Assaulting Officer

A 44-year-old Suttons Bay woman was arrested after assaulting an officer in Suttons Bay Township Thursday.

Leelanau County Sheriff's Office deputies were dispatached on a report of a domestic situation at a residence on South West Bay Shore Drive shortly after 5pm Thursday. A reporting individual stated a woman at the property was "freaking out" after using cocaine and Adderall. Upon arriving at the residence, a deputy was met by a woman at the front door behaving in an "aggressive and erratic" manner, according to the Sheriff's Office. The woman struck the deputy multiple times before being restrained and arrested.

After being medically cleared, the woman was lodged at Leelanau County Jail. Charges have been requested against her including assaulting a police officer and possession of illegal substances.
