Woman Flips Car Trying To Avoid Squirrel

By Patrick Sullivan | Aug. 6, 2019

An 82-year-old Traverse City woman who swerved her car to avoid a squirrel crashed into a parked car and flipped over on a quiet street.

The woman was not seriously injured in the crash, which happened Sunday at 7pm on Washington Street near the Grand Traverse County courthouse.

A bystander heard the crash and helped the woman get out of her upside-down 2009 Ford Fusion. She refused to go to the hospital but was checked out by responders, says Traverse City Police Chief Jeff O’Brien. She was issued a ticket for driving without due care and caution.
