Woman Killed in TC Shooting

Nov. 21, 2013

A 28-year-old woman was fatally shot Tuesday evening at an apartment complex at Three Mile Road and Aero Park Drive. A call made to dispatchers at 10:24 p.m., reportedly by 33-year-old Traverse City resident Robert Caldwell, indicated the man had attempted to commit suicide and missed, instead shooting Monica June Anderson. While authorities had not yet publicly identified the shooter or the victim as of press time yesterday, family members, neighbors and friends of Anderson and Caldwell - who were in a relationship and living together - have confirmed their identities. Caldwell was transported Tuesday evening to Munson Medical Center for a self-inflicted gunshot wound to his hand, where he remained yesterday. He is expected to be questioned by police once treatment is completed.
