Couple Arrested For Domestic Assault

June 29, 2016

A couple in a long-term relationship were arrested Monday after spitting on and assaulting each other.

Leelanau County Sheriff's Office deputies responded to a report of a domestic assault in progress at 3:22pm at a residence on Sunset Drive Road in Elmwood Township. A 25-year-old man and 26-year-old woman, both from Grawn, were visiting the residence when they got into an argument. As the woman attempted to leave the residence, the man came outside and spit on her vehicle. She got out of the car, and he grabbed her by the arm. The woman then spat in the man's face, and he responded by doing the same. The woman struck the man in the face, at which point the pair were separated by others at the residence, who called 911.

Deputies arrested both individuals for domestic assault. They were lodged at Leelanau County Jail.
