Traverse City West Alum Hired To Coach Girls Varsity Basketball

By Craig Manning | Sept. 9, 2025

Traverse City West Senior High School has a brand-new coach for its girls varsity basketball team, and he himself is a former Titan.

West’s athletic department announced on Monday that it had appointed Parker Neu as the new head coach for the school’s girls varsity basketball program. Neu graduated from West Senior High in 2020, and went on to play basketball at Alpena Community College and Grace Christian University during his college years, which wrapped up in 2024.

Since then, Neu has served as part of the basketball coaching staff at West, including as an assistant coach for both the boys and girls varsity programs and as head coach for the girls freshman team. He also coached as part of the Hoopology Summer Academy, a program offered at West Middle School this summer for boys and girls basketball players in grades 6-12.

“Parker brings a positive energy to our program, and is a great role model for student-athletes,” said West Senior High Athletic Director Jason Carmien. “We look forward to the 2025-26 season under his leadership.”
