Monthly meetings of the governing board at Cherry Capital Airport (TVC) will be available for viewing on the airport’s website starting in late October.

The Northwest Regional Airport Authority Board (pictured above) will implement recommendations from its Executive Committee to begin posting videos from its board meetings on TVC’s website at tvcairport.com starting with its next monthly meeting on Oct. 27.

Both area residents and elected officials have called on the airport board in recent months to make their meetings available for public viewing. Airport CEO Kevin Klein said under the new policy developed by the committee, the meetings will be posted on the airport’s website within 48 hours of the meeting unless impacted by holidays. The recording will be left up until the airport board approves the minutes of the meeting – typically the following month - and then replaced with the video of the most-recent meeting.

“We’re excited for it – we’ll see how it works,” Klein says.

The meetings will be recorded with an existing video camera and speakers installed in the airport’s conference room a few years ago, Klein says, and utilize GoTo Meeting software used for conducting web-based conferencing and online meetings.

“It worked well during Covid with our board meetings and our committees,” Klein says. “Now we have a little more capability to record it and tie it all together."

The airport’s current operating budget included $25,000 to set up recorded meetings this year, although Klein said the process won’t require any significant capital expenditures as it will operate through the airport’s telephone system that was upgraded almost two years ago.

Klein says there are no plans for now to live-stream the meetings or record committee meetings for public viewing, although future changes to the meeting policy could be considered.

“I’m not ruling that out,” Klein says. “If it works like we think it will, we’ll probably want to do more in the future.”
