County Opioid Grant Applications Being Accepted Through November 20

By Beth Milligan | Nov. 7, 2026

The Grand Traverse County Health Department is accepting community applications for opioid settlement grant funding through November 20.

The county encourages local agencies, community organizations, and coalitions "working in opioid prevention, harm reduction, treatment, and recovery to apply for funding," according to a county release. "Funding may support the development, implementation, enhancement, sustainability, or expansion of programs addressing opioid use disorder, polysubstance use, and co-occurring mental health and substance use disorders, including programs that promote the safety and wellness of people who use drugs."

Applications must be submitted electronically by 5pm on Friday, November 20. The number and size of
awards will depend on available funding, the quality of applications received, and funding priorities established by Grand Traverse County. Applications will be reviewed and scored by the Grand Traverse County Opioid Advisory Committee, and final funding approval will be made by Grand Traverse County commissioners.

Two award types are available:

> Opioid Mitigation Mini-Grant Award: For applicants seeking smaller-scale support. Individual awards are $10,000 or less, with a total of $100,000 available. Funds are available for use from October 1, 2026, through December 31, 2026.
> Opioid Mitigation Grant Award: For applicants seeking larger or multi-year support. This award covers a two-year period from February 26, 2027, through December 31, 2028, subject to annual review.

Applicants are strongly encouraged to request only the amount necessary to achieve their proposed
outcomes, as award amounts will be determined by the committee. More information is available here.
