Hickory Hills Ski Area To Open Saturday

By Beth Milligan | Dec. 29, 2020

Hickory Hills Ski Area will open for the season for downhill skiing on Saturday, January 2, the City of Traverse City announced Tuesday.

Crews are working “day and night” to make more snow in preparation of opening day, according to a city release. Due to the likelihood of high turnout on opening day, the city recommends skiers purchase annual passes ahead of time to avoid long lines. Several changes will be enforced at the ski area this year, including masks being required and the lodge being unavailable as a gathering area. The city has set up an FAQ page on the Hickory Hills website to explain rules in place for this season.

Hickory Hills is already open for Nordic skiing, with staff daily rolling the trails at both Hickory Hills and Hickory Meadows as conditions allow. Passes for Nordic skiing are available for purchase online online.
