House of Doggs Closing Downtown

Aug. 29, 2014

The House of Doggs in downtown Traverse City is closing in September. Owner Nick McAllister says the space at 120 S. Union is ready for a new restaurant operation to move in, with all equipment for sale. He says The House of Doggs location at the Grand Traverse Mall food court will remain open.

"We just need to focus on the mall spot," McAllister tells The Ticker.

House of Doggs made national headlines after coming out on top in “Food Court Wars” – a reality television competition series on the Food Network. The prize was a rent-free spot in the mall’s food court for one year, which McAllister opened this past February.

“We’d love to thank all of our customers for their years of loyal support,” says McAllister, who opened the hot dog eatery downtown in 2006.
