Lifelong Learning Campus Day At NMC

Oct. 26, 2016

The concept of continuing to challenge and learn throughout one’s lifetime is the driving force behind Northwestern Michigan College’s Lifelong Learning Campus Day Nov. 18. Attendees of all ages will be able to explore topics ranging from global issues to travel, technology, local attractions, fitness and cooking techniques. The concept is to continue learning throughout one’s lifetime, improving memory, increasing self-confidence, keeping the body active and generating a feeling of accomplishment.

Participants will select three sessions from 45 choices, all presented by area experts. Jack Segal, former White House official, introduces the murky world of radicalization and critical efforts underway to meet this new challenge. Travel to Alaska, Cuba and Celtic Lands without having to board a plane. Learn how to improve your balance from two different perspectives – Building Balance by Rex Holden from FYZECAL and Backs and Balance by Dr. Carrie Mayes. Elder law attorney Deborah Rysso outlines the basics of legal planning for those over 50 and Larry Flynn introduces tax planning in retirement. Learn how to cut the TV cord, assessing television programs without the high cost of cable. Join two dynamic business women who are changing lives in Cambodia in the Adventure of the Red Dirt Road. Other choices include sessions on food, computers, nature, exercise, music, art, foreign relations and more.

The event takes place Friday, Nov. 18 from 9:45 a.m.-2:30 p.m. at the University Center, 2200 Dendrinos Drive, off Cass Road. Cost is $29. Participants can bring their own lunch or order a box lunch for $10. Click here for more information or to register.
