MDOT to Start Work on New M-72 Turn Lanes This Week

By Beth Milligan | May 20, 2024

The Michigan Department of Transportation (MDOT) will invest $175,000 to build right-turn lanes for both directions of M-72 at the Williamsburg Road/Elk Lake Road intersection.

Construction is expected to start on Monday, May 20 and end by Thursday, May 30. Work will require temporarily closing the center left-turn lane, as well as traffic shifts at the intersection. Traffic restrictions will be lifted over the Memorial Day holiday weekend.

"Adding the right-turn lanes will provide drivers more space outside of the through-traffic lanes to safely slow down before turning," according to MDOT.
