Putting TCAPS High School Choir in the Spotlight

This week’s Northern Express — sister publication of The Ticker — is the Local Music Scene issue, featuring local radio hosts, international rock bands, and musicians of all stripes, including eight TCAPS choir kids.

Each year, the Verdi Opera Theatre of Michigan hosts a classical vocal competition for high schoolers from throughout the state of Michigan. This past spring, six of the 10 finalists hailed from either Traverse City Central High School or Traverse City West Senior High.

It’s just one data point that indicates the depth of vocal music talent on offer at northern Michigan’s two biggest high schools. Northern Express sat down with eight singers to watch from Central and West. Read more here.
