Semi Crash Shuts Down Road

May 25, 2016

A semi-truck that rolled over on Garfield Road early Tuesday morning caused the road to shut down for several hours as authorities worked to extract the vehicle.

The truck driver was heading northbound on Garfield between River Road and Hobbs Highway when he lost control and rolled over down an embankment on the east side of the road. Authorities responded to the crash at 2:20am. Heavy equipment was dispatched from Team Elmer's and Nickerson's Towing to recover the truck, during which time Garfield Road was closed.

The truck driver, a 46-year-old Lake Ann man, was not injured in the crash. He received a citation for careless driving. The truck - owned by a Traverse City company - sustained extensive damage in the accident.
