TC Man Charged With Recording a Juvenile

By Beth Milligan | May 19, 2026

Joseph Osborne, a 43-year-old Traverse City man, has been arrested following an investigation into allegations he used an electronic device to record a juvenile.

In February 2026, Michigan State Police troopers began investigating the allegations. A preliminary investigation indicated Osborne used his cell phone to record a juvenile in a private area of a home. Troopers submitted their findings to the Grand Traverse County prosecutor, and charges were ultimately authorized.

Osborne was arraigned on May 12 in 86th District Court on charges including one count of using a computer to commit a crime and two counts of capturing/distributing an image of an unclothed person. Osborne was given a $25,000 cash or surety bond. He is due back in court on May 26 at 2pm.
