The rebuild of US-31 near Interlochen will move into its final phase Monday, according to the Michigan Department of Transportation (MDOT).
In the final segment, which is expected to be complete by mid-November, crews will be rebuilding US-31 from west of the South Long Lake Road/J. Maddy Parkway roundabout to Reynolds Road. Southbound US-31 traffic will be maintained on US-31, while northbound US-31 traffic will be detoured via southbound Reynolds Road, eastbound Cinder Road, eastbound Diamond Park Road, northbound Gonder Road, eastbound Riley Road, and northbound J. Maddy Parkway.
MDOT is investing $32.5 million this year to rebuild a 7.8-mile section of US-31 from Sullivan Road in Green Lake Township to Reynolds Road in Inland Township. Work has included rebuilding and widening the road to improve pavement condition and provide safety improvements with the addition of center left-turn lanes, widened paved shoulders, and rumble strips. The South Long Lake Road/J. Maddy Parkway intersection was rebuilt as a roundabout, which is now open to traffic.
