Hagerty Co-Founder Frank Hagerty Passes Away

Frank Hagerty, co-founder of Hagerty Insurance Agency in Traverse City, has died after a battle with cancer. He was 79. Hagerty co-founded the insurance company with his wife Louise in 1984 in the basement of their Traverse City home. What started as a company to insure their treasured wooden boats is now the largest insurer of classic cars and vintage boats in the world with more than 600 employees worldwide. Son McKeel leads the business as president and CEO, daughter Kim is chairman of the board of The Hagerty Group, LLC.
