The body of Diana Marie Golosh, a 66-year-old woman who was reported missing on January 28, was discovered Friday in a wooded area near Rennie School Road.

The Grand Traverse Sheriff's Office said two individuals discoverd what appeared to be human remains in the 3000 block area of Rennie School Road. The individuals immediately contacted authorities, who responded to the scene and secured the site. The remains were taken to the Western Michigan University Medical Examiner's Office for identifcation and examination.

The body was confirmed as that of Golosh. She was reported missing by family members on January 28, with authorities saying she was seen on January 26 wearing slippers and a gown. She occasionally used a walker for assistance. Since her disappearance, "investigators, search teams, and community volunteers have worked extensively to locate" Golosh, according to the Sheriff's Office.

An investigation remains active pending autopsy results. "The Sheriff's Office extends its sincere condolences to the family and friends of Diana Golosh," the department said in a release. "We ask that the public respect the family's privacy during this difficult time." More information will be released when available, the Sheriff's Office said.
