The Three Mile/Hammond intersection in East Bay Township is not expected to reopen until Wednesday due to a utility conflict in the intersection, according to a Grand Traverse County Road Commission (GTCRC) release.

Once the intersection reopens to traffic next week, the Hammond Road reconstruction and Safe Routes to School projects will move into their next phase, according to GTCRC. In that phase, Three Mile Road will be fully open to traffic north of the intersection, as will Hammond Road east of the intersection (pictured).

Hammond Road between Townline Road and west of the Three Mile Road intersection will be closed for reconstruction. This segment of Hammond Road is anticipated to remain closed until mid-to-late September. Three Mile Road between Napoleon Way and south of the Hammond Road intersection will remain closed for the Safe Routes to School project. This segment will reopen to traffic on Monday, August 24.

Access to residents and businesses within the road closure areas will be maintained. All other traffic should follow the posted detours:

Drivers should expect delays and are encouraged to allow extra travel time.
