Federal, State Funds Approved For TVC Upgrades

By Bill O'Brien | Aug. 14, 2026

More than $6 million in federal and state transportation dollars are headed to Cherry Capital Airport (TVC) for HVAC upgrades at its existing terminal building.

The Northwest Regional Airport Authority Board at a special meeting this week approved a resolution accepting $5,907,181 in federal funding and another $310,905 in state aeronautic funds to upgrade the air handling systems in its current terminal building. Another $2,227,919 in airport funding is targeted for the project, which totals just over $8,446,000.

The upgrades will include replacement of the air handling units, boilers and chillers throughout the terminal, which opened in 2004. A contract for the work was awarded by the airport board this spring, when it approved other construction contracts for the new “Gates to the Future” terminal expansion which is currently under construction. Christman Co., the general contractor for the new terminal project, is also completing the HVAC upgrades.

Autumn MacClaren, TVC’s director of air service development and marketing, said the boiler replacement work is already underway. The entire project is expected to take about a year, she said, and is scheduled for competition by next August. The $120 million terminal expansion is slated for completion in spring 2028.
